Roberto Marinho é uma daquelas pessoas que nunca se esquece. Acredito que todos os que tiveram a oportunidade de estar com ele alguma vez, vão se lembrar desse momento. Uma figura mitológica do Brasil do Século XX, um homem sereno de grande carisma e capaz de incitar a ousadia e simbolizar a iniciativa como poucos. Um homem que tinha plena consciência do poder que possuía e exercia. Um ícone que representava uma tranqüilidade do homem que se fez sozinho e a urgência de quem não tinha tempo a perder. Encontrei o apenas uma vez na minha vida, mas não esquecerei de sua cortesia, sua voz grave e seu carisma imperial.

Pensar maneiras de traduzir e ao mesmo tempo sintetizar sua obra não é desafio pequeno. Para mim a síntese do que ele fez em vida foi mover a sociedade como um todo para um ideal de modernidade e encontrar uma identificação do brasileiro com sua identidade. Roberto Marinho, direta ou indiretamente, criou ou deixou que criassem uma imagem contemporânea do Brasil e dos Brasileiros.

Foi um excepcional criador de equipes, patriarca de uma grande família, empresário audacioso e de sucesso impar, articulador político ativo, amante das boas coisas da vida e desportista de entusiasmo incansável. Esse mesmo homem foi responsável pela maneira do Brasileiro se informar, muito da educação emocional que obtemos através da mídia, a criação de um senso de comunidade virtualizada. A Aldeia Global, já estava sendo criada por ele antes mesmo de ser cunhada por McLuhan. Roberto Marinho junto com Niemeyer, Juscelino e Jobim empurrou o Brasil para o futuro, oferecendo uma imagem de modernidade que o Brasil procurava para si.

O Tempo - A exposição começa com uma sala dedicada a entender o tempo em que Roberto Marinho viveu e as circunstâncias que passou para construir seu legado. Nessa sala uma cronologia textual convive com o universo de imagens que suas iniciativas produziram na memória dos Brasileiros. O visitante poderá navegar no espaço de forma contemplativa ou de forma exploratória buscando as imagens soltas pelo espaço em discos de imagem.

Trajetória, uma sala da exposição foi dedicada à imagem de Roberto Marinho, desde sua infância com o pai Irineu Marinho, passando por sua família, os aliados, os encontros com personalidades, esportes, nela um panorama de sua vida surge sintetizado em um grande painel de projeções, que revela um homem que dialogou com todo o espectro da sociedade que pode ser pai, companheiro e amigo, que soube ousar e tomar riscos como poucos.

O Mar, talvez o lugar onde o jornalista se sentisse melhor fosse no silêncio submarino. Uma sala foi reservada para traduzir essa paixão pelo mar que ele carregava até no nome. O mergulho, a caça submarina, as obras de arte com essa temática, os peixes e a cor azul que simbolizaram a imensidão do mar que durante toda a vida ele manteve como fascinação.

Sua principal obra, contudo, foi a criação de um sistema de comunicação que ajudou ao Brasil se reinventar. Isso se traduz na última sala da exposição onde a metáfora fundamental da razão de ser das Organizações Globo se traduz de forma plástica, ser o Espelho e a Janela para o Brasileiro se ver e ver ao outro. Um espelho virtual que preenche o seu contorno com centenas das imagens que fizeram a memória de como cada um de nós viu o mundo através da mídia, e como de alguma forma temos esse vinculo comum entre nós. Fragmentos de como vimos os acontecimentos, de como nos educamos emocionalmente, de como encontramos a identidade brasileira e inventamos um lugar no mundo. No Brasil por vários motivos, a Rede Globo, com seus lados positivos e negativos, se transformou no espelho/janela da sociedade. Roberto Marinho criou isso.

Roberto Marinho is one of those people that you never forget. I believe that all those who had a chance to be close to him some time, will remember this moment. A mythological figure of XX century Brazil, a cheerful man of great charisma and able to arouse dare and stand for initiative as few others. A man who was fully aware of the power he owned and put into practise. An icon, he exemplified the tranquillity of the self-made man and the urgency of someone who had no time to waste. I only met him once in my life, but I will not forget his gentleness, his strong voice and his imperial charisma.

Thinking of the possible ways to translate and, at the same time, synthesise his work is quite a challenge. To me, a synthesis of what he did in life was moving society as a whole towards an ideal of modernity and creating a connection between Brazilians and their identities. Roberto Marinho, directly and indirectly, created or allowed the creation of a contemporary image of Brazil and Brazilians.

He was an exceptional creator of teams, patriarch of a big family, daring and successful entrepreneur, active articulator of politics, lover of good life, untiring and enthusiastic sportsman. The man was responsible for the way Brazilians receive information, much emotional education that we are given through the media, the creation of a sense of virtual community. The Global Village was already in his mind, even before Mc Luhan named it. Roberto Marinho, together with Niemeyer, Juscelino e Jobim pushed Brazil towards the future, providing an image of modernity that the country was in search of.

Time - the exhibition begins with a room solely dedicated to understanding the moment in time when Roberto Marinho lived and the circumstances he went through to build his legacy. Here, a textual chronology is accompanied by the universe of images that his initiatives provoked in the memory of Brazilians. Visitors will be able to navigate the space in an either contemplative or exploratory way, searching for loose images in circles.
Trajectory - A gallery is dedicated to the image of Roberto Marinho, from his childhood with his father Irineu Marinho, to his family, his allies, his meetings with celebrities, and his favourite sports. Here, a panorama of his life is synthesised in a big scale projection that unveils a man that dialogued with everyone in society who could be father, mate and friend, who knew how to dare and take risks as few others.

The seaside - Possibly, the place where Marinho felt better was the submarine silence. An entire gallery is dedicated to his passion for the sea, which he carried even in his own name. The snorkelling, the deep-sea fishing, the marine works of art, the fish and the colour blue symbolised the hugeness of the ocean, that he kept through his whole life.

All in all, his main work was the creation of a communication system that helped Brazil reinventing itself. This is shown in the last gallery, where the fundamental metaphor of the reason to exist of Globo is translated in a plastic form, being the Mirror and the Window for the Brazilian to see himself and see the others. A virtual mirror that fills its border with hundreds of images that build up a memory of the way each of us sees the world through the media, and of how, some how, we are connected by this common bond. Fragments of how we saw facts, how we emotionally educated ourselves, how we found a Brazilian identity and made up our place in the world. For some reason, in Brazil Rede Globo, with its pros and cons, turned the mirror/window of society. Roberto Marinho created this.
