DE VOLTA À LUZ - Fotografias Nunca Vistas do Imperador

Esta é uma exposição que reúne o acervo da família do Imperador Dom Pedro II e as fotografias da Biblioteca Nacional, que o Imperador tirou durante as suas viagens pelo mundo, ao longo do século XIX. Algumas destas fotografias ficaram intocadas por mais de 110 anos e foram restauradas para o projeto. A exposição ocupa 1300 m2 do Instituto Cultural Banco Santos. É dividida em cinco seções: a coleção da família, as imagens do exílio, o Imperador e o seu tempo, as fotografias de viagem e a primeira técnica fotográfica. Usámos uma combinação de elementos para o design da exibição, mas o momento mais importante é o impacto produzido pela forma a espiral, inspirada pela forma em que as fotografias eram enroladas. Criamos um corredor a espiral dupla com frames de vidro boiando, iluminados por eletroluminescência.

BACK TO LIGHT - Never Before Seen Photographs of the Emperor

A very unique exhibition displaying photographs from the Family Collection of Brazil's Emperor Dom Pedro II and the National Library of Brazil photographs of the travels the Emperor did around the world in the late 19th century. Some of these photos were kept untouched for over a 110 years and were restored for the project. The exhibition occupies 1300 sq meters of the newly established Instituto Cultural Banco Santos. And it is divided in 5 sections, one being the Family collection, the images of the exile, the emperor and his times, photographs of travel, and the early photography techniques. We used a combination of elements to design the exhibition, but the most remarkable moment is the impact resulted of the spiral shape inspired by the form the photographs rolled themselves. We created a double spiral corridor with floating frames of glass lit by electroluminescence.
