ANTES. HISTÓRIAS DA PRÉ-HISTÓRIA

Esta é a mais recente de uma serie de exposições históricas que foram organizadas para o CCBB para traçar a historia da herança cultural brasileira, tratando, desta vez, sua matriz pré-histórica nativa.
Antes é apresentada nos CCBB do Rio de Janeiro, Brasília e São Paulo. Inclui cerca de 300 artefatos arqueológicos, alguns deles de mais de 50.000 anos, que foram selecionados em diversas importantes instituições nacionais e internacionais. O design da exposição se organiza em três áreas macro, cada uma representando uma região do país e suas diferenças culturais e econômicas: o Litoral, o Interior e o Amazonas.
A contribuição das curadoras Niede Guidon, Anne Marie Pessis e Gabriela Martin, três pesquisadoras promitentes que há tempo se dedicam ao estudo da arqueologia brasileira, foi essencial para o desenvolvimento do conceito desta exposição.

O objetivo é preencher as lacunas na história brasileira, oferecendo uma oportunidade sem precedentes de examinar a riqueza cultura e artística dos povos nativos que habitaram o país antes da chegada dos Portugueses. Os objetos são diversos, tem um alto grau de desenvolvimento tecnológico e um valor estético extraordinário. Representam o nascimento de expressões artísticas primitivas mas ainda elaboradas, mostrando que os brasileiros da pré-história estavam produzindo pinturas e obras de arte no mesmo momento que os Chineses ou os Europeus.
Devido à sua vocação educativa, o design de Antes tem um forte apelo multimídia, apresentando animações holográficas e uma enorme projeção de pinturas rupestres. Esta reinterpretação digital das inscrições de 40.000 anos atrás, é baseada nas fotografias tiradas por César Barreto.

BEFORE. HISTORIES FROM PREHISTORY

This is the most recent in a series of exhibitions organized for the CCBB, that trace the history of Brazilian cultural heritage, dealing this time with its prehistoric native matrix.
Antes is presented at all CCBB venues, traveling from Rio de Janeiro, to Brasilia and San Paulo. It displays around 300 archeological exhibits, some of them dating as old as 50.000 years, that were selected in major national and international institutions. The exhibition design is arranged into three macro areas, each representing a region of the country and its cultural and economic differences: the Coastline, the Inner Land and the Amazonian Basin.
The contribution of the curators, Niede Guidon, Anne Marie Pessis and Gabriela Martin, three leading researchers long dedicated to the study of Brazilian archeology, was essential to develop the exhibition concept.

This exhibition aims to bridge a gap in Brazilian history, providing an unprecedented opportunity to examine the cultural and artistic richness of the native peoples that lived in the country before the Portuguese arrived. The objects are varied, have a high level of technological development and an outstanding aesthetic value. They represent the birth of primitive and yet elaborated artistic expressions, showing that prehistoric native Brazilians were producing paintings and works of art at the same time as Chinese or Europeans.
Because of its educational intention, Antes is designed with a strong multimedia approach, featuring holographic animations and a large-scale projection of rock art. This digital reinterpretation of the 40.000-year-old inscriptions was based on specialty photographs taken by Cesar Barreto.
